When it comes to the ultimate in outdoor living, covered outdoor structures like gazebos seem to be top on the list for Columbus residents. Whether it is a stand-alone structure in your yard or part of your deck or patio, gazebos can add hours of enjoyment to your outdoor living spaces. Gazebos come in all shapes and sizes, can be ornamental or simple, but all provide an abundant amount of shade and shelter from the weather to let you spend extra time outdoors. If your gazebo has outdoor lighting, that time is extended further, allowing you to enjoy the space even more.
Outdoor Lighting Perspectives of Columbus has a variety of fixtures and lighting techniques that can be used within your gazebo. Our copper sconce lights are perfect when mounted on the wall or post to direct light both up and down, our copper wall light creates a rich wash of ambient light on the ground and can also be used overhead, our spot lights and flood lights can provide the perfect amount of up lighting, and our café lights or even string lights can add a festive touch to the area. Of course, if you gazebo contains steps we have lighting that can be recessed in stairs as well.
The type of lighting we use depends on the size of your gazebo and your preferred use of the area. Recently, we installed outdoor lighting for a client whose gazebo was more of a triangular shape. The structure sheltered part of their patio with the posts being attached to an angled sitting wall. This area was used as a place to relax after a long day but also as their main outdoor dining area. Their goal was to have sufficient lighting to eat comfortably but also have it adjustable so when they wanted to relax, the lighting could be lowered or turned off completely.
When we walked the property with our client and talked about the various use of the space, it quickly became clear that we would need two types of lighting. For the dining purpose, we chose to install three LED spotlights, using our most versatile BB-02 fixture. Our “stick light” as we commonly refer to it is slim so it can fit in the tightest places while remaining inconspicuous and giving off a powerful light source. We installed these three stick lights in the ceiling, shining down into the dining area. Because they only wanted this amount of light available while they were eating we put these lights on their own switch so they could be turned off after the meal, when it was time to relax.
To help our clients create a mood for unwinding, we installed LED strip lighting within the trusses above to create the perfect ambient light. This type of lighting on its own creates a captivating atmosphere and provides the perfect amount of illumination to spend hours under the gazebo after the sun sets. As with every outdoor lighting installation, we focus on the light source while making the fixtures as discreet as possible.
